ALTERNATIVE ROCK — LIVING LEGENDS

Only one show in the Rhône-Alpes region and no Swiss shows this year: Guitare en Scène is the Pixies' only stop in the area, and you really don't want to miss the band that invented the sound of modern alternative rock!

Kurt Cobain quoted them as his biggest influence for Nevermind — put simply, without the Pixies, Nirvana as we know it would never have existed. Neither would Radiohead, the Smashing Pumpkins, or Tame Impala.

Created in Boston in 1986 by Black Francis and Joey Santiago after a handwritten ad posted on a university dorm wall, the quartet created — across just a handful of albums — the formula that would redefine rock: the now-famous "quiet-loud-quiet" structure, those whispered verses that suddenly erupt into screamed choruses, which have since become the universal signature of an entire musical generation.

Over 10 million records sold worldwide, and a string of cult albums: Surfer Rosa (1988), the legendary platinum-certified Doolittle (1989), Bossanova (1990), Trompe Le Monde (1991) — followed by a thunderous comeback from 2004 onwards, right up to their latest release, The Night The Zombies Came (October 2024), proving they've never stopped pushing forward.

On the setlist: their generation-defining anthems — "Where Is My Mind?" made lengendary by the closing scene of Fight Club, "Here Comes Your Man," "Debaser," "Hey," "Monkey Gone To Heaven," and "All I Think About Now."

Black Francis, Joey Santiago, and David Lovering return to the stage with Emma Richardson (formerly of Band of Skulls), the band's new bassist since 2024, to mark 40 years of one of rock's most influential careers in style.

Forty years on, the Pixies are still searching for where their mind went — and we wouldn't have it any other way. Don't wait for some hypothetical farewell tour to finally see them live!
