In the eye of Guitare en Scène
From the heights of musical Olympus, a giant invites us to take his hand, us privileged ones, and walk in his company. On this land of electric dreams, Mark Knopfler offers us a stroll between blues, rock and country, a wonderful path animated with mythical songs and legendary riffs, exquisite runaways leading to absolute pleasures among which the one to admire, once again, one of the best guitarist in the world...
From the land of dreams, a rumor is swelling, an electric vibrating call to warn all those brothers in arms left for so long with no news that the quiet man of rock, the craftsman of blues is back, one song at a time, with no looking back upon his shoulder which would prevent him to move straight ahead in the more efficient way possible, becoming, when necessary, this sparkle-man able to ignite hearts and souls. That's how Mark Knopfler has decided to come back and meet us again, gently, with his nineth album « Down the Road Wherever », letting his now legendary and unique guitar sound tickle our ears once again and giving thrills to those who love to let their spirit wander between rock, blues and country music.
Stranding far from artificial effects and passing fashions, this sultan of swing offers us a new tour of his virtuoso universe, as he has always done before either with Dire Straits, his Notting Hillbillies or his movie soundtracks – among them « Princess Bride » and « Local Hero » - and his collaborations with Bob Dylan, Sonny Landreth, Eric Clapton and Zucchero, with 14 delicate flamboyant tracks, 14 sublime songs which, almost 35 years after « Money for Nothing » first notes, remind us, if needed, that Mark Knopfler is definitly one if not the best guitarist of all times.
While you hear in a whisper here and there that he's about to let, after an ultimate tour, his mythic red stratocaster lay in its case for good, here he goes again, back in the truck to come and meet with us one more time. What then could be for every living and beating heart around a better idea than to greet him at Guitare en Scène and gather in this land of electric dreams of which only Mark Knopfler holds the key.
